1           Project Deliverables for 2004

1.1         OpenNet Hotspots
Partially staffed - through June - CSD - MA - project

á    June: Base Open Net Hotspot(s) in Jokkmokk

1.2         Relay:
Not yet staffed

á    October: Simple SMTP Relay. Use of off the shelf computers, laptops and wifi.

á    December: SMTP - Bundle ALG

1.3         Routing

1.4         Topographical Mapping and Network Planning Tool:
Staffed

á    April: First mock-up. The intention is here to demonstrate the kind of results produced by the network planning tool.

á    September: First prototype, using not unrealistic assumptions.

á    December: Second prototype, where important models have been improved.

1.5         WEB Caching
Not staffed

September: Study initiated

1.6         Hardware
Not Staffed

September: Document the requirements for SNC relays and gateway. The analysis should include power, configuration, ruggedizing. Analysis should also include details of wifi utilization, including range, and the ability to realistically increase range though shaping and power within SNC constraints.

December: Design construction requirements and budget for equipment for the second year based on SeptemberÕs analysis

1.7         Documentation

September: Produce initial Tiki containing SNC documentation, training material, downloads etc.

1.8         Training

June: Training in Hotspot setup

2           Goals for Year 2:

á    Field test of Prophet (routing) relays in summer lands (mesh routing of bundles)

o        Specialized hardware to be used in test installations

o        Initial test of relay installation Ð

¤          multiple remote hotspots

¤          fixed relays

¤          mobile relays

o        Mapping and Location of Fixed Gateways using topographical tool

á    Develop and Deploy WEB Caching

á    Develop ALGs for Bundle to Apps (Apps yet to be determined, e.g FTP)

á    Minor modifications to topographical network planning tool, due to change requests.
